Many of you have talked to Philippe, at the table or in the wine shop. He is usually opening a bottle, serving wine, bringing food, talking to guests, or watching over the floor and helping our server and kitchen team. For this one night, Philippe will sit down for a cozy evening around the community table for a tasting of some of his favorite wines and a discussion of his unlikely story with wine—how he learned about wine and to trust his palate. That story starts in France and with a very terrible, palate-wrenching Corbières, a thick and tannic wine from Southwest France. Yet that wine brought joy to the family as it was used to pour in soup for “Chabrol”, as the local Occitan dialect called the tradition of finishing a bowl of soup by pouring red wine into the bowl to dilute the remnants and bring it to the lips to drink in large gulps. This experience unleashed a lifelong desire to discover, taste and “understand” better wines, and a lifelong belief that wine is really about community. Come share the arc of that story of wine and life, and how that arc arrived at Pirouette.
Five wines will be poured and small snacks will be provided (included in the ticket). Our dinner menu will also be available. Come curious! All palates, appetites, and questions are welcome.
